Brief History

Emoru & Co. Advocates was established in 1992 by Emoru Vincent Lokucha. Emoru obtained a Bacheolors Degree in Law from Makerere University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice before proceeding to the University of Manchester in the United Kindgom where he obtained a Masters in Law. He was subsequently trained and practiced under the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in London as a professional Barrister.

He joined the Attorney General’s Chambers and worked with them from 1989 for period of 3 (three) years after which he went into private practice under the name and style of Emoru & Co. Advocates in the year 1992.

Upon joining private practice, he was involved in among other high profile matters the locus classicus constitutional petition: Salvatori Abuki & Richard Obuga versus Attorney General, Constitutional Petition No. 2 of 1997 in which he successfully challenged the constitutionality of certain sections of the Witchcraft Act shortly after the coming into force of the Uganda Constitution in 1995.
